Kannapolis is ten minutes north of Concord and the same crew covers it: pumping, inspections, risers and drain field work for the mill-village streets around the old Cannon plant, the newer neighborhoods off Kannapolis Parkway and Dale Earnhardt Boulevard, and the rural lots toward Mooresville and the Rowan County line.
The city runs water and sewer through most of the older core, but annexed edges and the lots beyond them are on tanks, and the Rowan County side has its own health department: the permit sits with the county the parcel is in.

About Kannapolis
Kannapolis grew up around the Cannon Mills textile plant, and its center was rebuilt after 2005 around the North Carolina Research Campus. It is Cabarrus County's second city, with a downtown ballpark, a growing north side toward Mooresville, and rural land on both the Cabarrus and Rowan sides of the line. Landis, China Grove and the Rowan edge are within the service area.
